Bernardo Silva waits to “see what happens” amid Barcelona rumors

It's been reported earlier that the Blaugrana think that they will be able to pen a contract with Bernardo Silva as the player is eager to push for a move, now he finally speaks out about the speculations.

Barcelona has reportedly told

the Citizens' midfielder that he will become their player this season with

Joan Laporta

, the Catalans president believing the Portuguese midfielder is going to be an essential player and they should go over and beyond to secure his services.

Speaking to

ESPN

, Silva admits he doesn't know if he will still be at Etihad Stadium after this transfer window or not amid rumors linking him with a permanent transfer to

Barcelona

. He said:

"I've always said that I'm happy here but I have no idea what's going to happen. We'll see, honestly. My relationship with the club is very honest. I've been open with them and they know what I want.

"If I stay, I'm very happy and I will always respect this club and give all my best. If not, it's football and we'll just see what happens."

Manchester City

was forced to deny reports this week that they had agreed to a fee with Barcelona for their Portuguese midfielder as

Pep Guardiola

dropped Silva to the bench for his side's Premier League opener against

West Ham

last weekend. However, he said that will not change his professional attitude even if he ends up staying this season.

Giving an insight into the club's communication to players who may want to leave,

Bernardo Silva

added:

"It's a big club and they don't want players who are not happy at the club.

"They always say to all of us that if you're not happy, you can go. Of course, they are in business and they want the right amount of money for letting us go but personally it's a relationship with the club that is very respectful.

"They have always been honest with me and I have always been honest with them. As I said, I will always respect my relationship with Man City, with the fans, with the staff, with my teammates so whatever happens, happens and it for sure will happen in a very respectful way."
