Mahrez: Bernardo brings me coffee like a child as he's afraid of me

Algerian admits threatening to "throw" teammate in ice bath if he doesn't give pre-match drink.

Riyad Mahrez

made fun of Bernardo Silva, his teammate at

Manchester City

, by saying, "He brings me my coffee like a little boy because he's afraid of me." Mahrez and Bernardo have been very important to City's success over the past few years. They have worked well together in the final third to help the club win a number of domestic titles.

Since moving from

Monaco

to the Etihad Stadium in 2017,

Bernardo Silva

has won four Premier League titles, while Mahrez has won three since coming from

Leicester

a year later. The two also get along well off the field.

Bernardo and Mahrez talked about their most important pre-game ritual in the most recent episode of City's in-house documentary, "Together: champions again!"

Bernardo, a soccer player from Portugal, started the segment by saying, "I always go get a coffee for me and Riyad an hour before the game. It's the only thing I do out of habit."

Mahrez then confirmed that they had agreed, but he also made a joke about how Bernardo only gives him the drink because he is afraid of him. On the first weekend of the new season, Mahrez and Bernardo both came off the bench to help City beat West Ham 2-0.

The two players hope to be in Pep Guardiola's starting lineup for Saturday's game against Bournemouth. However, Barcelona reportedly wants Bernardo and hasn't ruled out leaving Manchester before the transfer window closes.
