Ilkay Gundogan’s agent denies agreement reports with Barcelona
Ilkay Gundogan’s agent has denied the reports that he has reached an agreement to join Barcelona next season on a free transfer.
lkay Gundogan is in the final year of his contract with Manchester City and his future is unclear. Manchester City is open to extending Gundogan’s contract, but the 32-year-old midfielder prefers a long-term contract, while City is ready to offer him just a one-year contract.
Barcelona has been strongly linked with Gundogan in recent months, and recently even reports in Spain suggested that he has reached an agreement with Barcelona and will join the club in the summer.
Ilhan Gundogan, uncle and agent of the player, has denied any agreement with Barcelona and insisted that the player is yet to make any decisions regarding his future.
“There’s definitely no agreement yet with any club,”
said Ilhan Gundogan to the Guardian.
“The focus of Ilkay in recent weeks was only on Manchester City and the birth of his son. Now he is in the final and crucial phase of the season and is completely focused on that. Where Ilkay plays next season is still open.”
Gundogan arrived in Manchester in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund and has made 290 appearances, scoring 53 goals and assisting 27. He has made 37 appearances this season, scoring four goals and assisting four.
