De Gea: I love Manchester United and I'm really happy here

The Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea insists he is happy at Manchester United, as talks over extending his contract continue.

De Gea who joined Manchester United 12 years ago, will be a free agent at the end of the season. The Athletic recently reported that De Gea has rejected a Man United contract extension offer as he wants more salary. The report claimed that talks between both parties will continue.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the 32-year-old De Gea said he loves his club, and is fully focused on the upcoming games.

"I've been here many, many years, enjoying every moment at this club and playing many games,"

De Gea told Sky Sports.

"Of course it's great to be here, it's a massive club. I love the club and I'm really happy here.

"It's been the same over the years. There's a lot of noise about everything at this club, but the players just focus on games, especially the one we have on Sunday – it's a massive game for us because we want to finish in the top four.

"We have many games so I think we have to be really caring about training, recovering well, helping the team and that's the most important thing, more than contracts or anything.”

Manchester United is in third place in the Premier League table and will face Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday.
