Manchester United hold talks with agent of Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester United is interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong this summer.

According to Sky Deutschland,

Manchester United

has held positive talks with

Frimpong’s

representatives, and he is open to joining the English club.

The 21-year-old Frimpong has scored eight goals and provided nine assists this season under Xabi Alonso. The former Manchester City and Celtic defender is under contract with Leverkusen until 2025. Bild’s journalist Christian Falk also claimed last month that Jeremie Frimpong is getting closer to a United move.

Netherlands U21 international Frimpong was part of the Netherlands squad for the 2022 World Cup, but he failed to make an appearance. Frimpong has yet to make his international debut and was left out of new Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman's first squad for last month's Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

Frimpong began his career at Manchester City’s academy but failed to make a first-team appearance and joined Celtic in 2019.

Man United is keen on strengthening the right-back role, with one of Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka likely will be sold in the summer.  They also have been linked with Inter defender Denzel Dumfries, but Erik ten Hag is an admirer of Frimpong and is pushing United to sign the Dutchman.
